AssetTagz is partnering with the Design & Technology Association to support STEM education for 11-14 year olds
Introducing the ‘Inspired by Industry’ programme.
‘Inspired by Industry’ is a programme by The Design & Technology Association (D&T Association) that is proudly supported by AssetTagz, along with other esteemed partners such as Atkins Realis, the global construction design consultants, The James Dyson Foundation and JCB, as well as Nottingham Trent University.
It is the name given to a new programme of work aimed at transforming practice in D&T departments nationally. The idea behind it is to shift the focus of the design and technology curriculum towards solving relevant, real-life problems that will inspire and engage students and expose them to potential career paths within key UK industries, including Construction, to help resolve the ever-increasing skills shortage.
AssetTagz’ involvement in the Inspired by Industry programme has three distinct facets:
We are an industry partner, alongside the likes of JCB, Scalextric and Lisi Aerospace who are each providing a real-world project for teachers to incorporate into their curriculum.
The business is also supporting an eighteen-month long research programme that runs alongside the project which will measure engagement, adoption and perception amongst students, teachers and parents.
Finally, AssetTagz is sponsoring the Excellence Award for Outstanding Secondary Subject Leadership at the annual Design and Technology Association Awards.
Malcolm Stagg, COO at AssetTagz, says of the project: “It is no secret that the Construction industry is experiencing challenges with recruitment, and we are always looking for ways to encourage people to take up careers across the industry. AssetTagz is only too aware of the importance of investing in the skills of young people for the future of construction in the UK. We are proud to be working alongside the likes of Atkins Realis, The James Dyson foundation and Nottingham Trent University to be proactive when it comes to engaging with young people so that they can thrive in this great industry and play an active role in creating a successful future.”
