Meet the Team – Anna Wilson
In this edition of Meet the Team, we talk to Anna Wilson, an Implementation Consultant at AssetTagz.
One unlikely fact that you probably won’t know about Anna is that she enjoys taking part in battle reenactments. “I am a Pikeman, which is essentially an infantry soldier armed with a 16ft pike. Think of the pike block being similar to a rugby scrum where everyone holding a 16 ft pike and are wearing steel armour. It’s very sociable and in fact it was there that I met my partner, Adam, 15 years ago.”
In her spare time Anna is also a volunteer swimming teacher. “One of the best lessons you can teach children is how to swim as it could save their life. Now that my own children are older, I teach other children to swim. I have been doing it for about 10 years now and it is incredibly rewarding.”
Anna started her career as a graphic designer, then moved into coding and started creating websites, and ultimately became a PHP developer. “But it was when I went into project management and implementation that I really found my calling. That was 16 years ago, and the rest is history.”
Asked what she likes most about being an Implementation Consultant, Anna says: “It’s the interaction with customers: I like getting out face-to-face, I like solving their problems. Essentially AssetTagz has been brought in to solve a problem, getting it working for clients and seeing the benefits start to manifest gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
“My first site visit really was a real eye opener, it was at the site of a new nuclear power station known as Hinkley Point C, and it’s just vast. That was my first experience of training end users on site to manage their consumables and stock. We trained them up and within 5 minutes they had started to take over, assigning PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at the Stores. That’s the beauty of AssetTagz really: it is simple to use, and it works for customers. That is what we pride ourselves on being good at delivering.
A progressive element of this project is that at they are already thinking about the next nuclear power station, Sizewell, which will be a close copy of Hinkley Point C. The client is already talking about how they want AssetTagz implemented from the very beginning which is fantastic to hear.”
Asked what it feels like to be part of the Leo Lion group, Anna responds: “As a volunteer myself, I recognise and value the support that the Leo Lion Foundation provides across the world. It puts so much back into the community, and I would like to start playing my part in that.
As well as the philanthropic side, it really does feel like a people focused business. The fact is that people make a business. Some companies often just pay lip service to this, but that is not the case at AssetTagz.”
