Meet the Team – Gethin Phillips
In this edition of Meet the Team we meet Gethin Phillips, an Implementation Consultant at AssetTagz. Gethin is the newest member of the team, having joined in November 2023.
Previously, Gethin worked for COiNS, the construction software company, where he was a solutions architect, and prior to that he was at Jones Bros Plant hire as the assistant Fleet Manager of the Plant Division.
“I’m putting the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the last 18 years in the Construction and Plant industries to really good use here at AssetTagz.” says Gethin.”Not just in implementation, but also the integration between AssetTagz and the other software solutions that we integrate with, COiNS being one of course.”
Asked to tell us something we wouldn’t know about him, Gethin tells us he is a qualified First Aider and volunteers as a First Responder in Wales where he lives.
“This all came about 13 years ago when I joined St John Ambulance. I went up the ranks until I became one of their internal trainers and eventually went on to join the Community First Responders for the Welsh ambulance service. And when COVID hit I asked my then manager to furlough me instead of one of my staff so I could go and work for a private ambulance company. We spent three months transporting COVID patients to and from hospital.
It’s more of a hobby than anything else, but it’s nice to be able to get out there, help the community and help people out at the same time.”
Asked what he thinks is the most impressive aspect of AssetTagz, Gethin responds emphatically: “For me it’s all about the inspections. The fact that you can inspect not just an asset, but a location and even an employee. The depth and breadth of what can be recorded and interrogated makes AssetTagz stands out from other applications that I’ve seen.”
And what would Gethin like to see next for AssetTagz? “Given my customer facing role, for me it’s a Customer forum. I’d love to get all our clients in one room and get their feedback on what they would like to see in the system. It’s good for customers to know that we are listening and that they can contribute to shape how the product will develop over time. Ultimately it all comes down to delivering value to the customer.”
Finally, how does it feel to be part of a business that’s connected to the Leo Lion Foundation? “It’s nice to know that through the work we do, our business is giving back to less fortunate parts of the community. I’ve actually put my First Aid skills to use for the Foundation too as I’ve covered the Sundial Festival, the biggest event in the Leo Lion Foundation calendar that showcases all the good work being done.”
